The Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR) is a credentialing and assessment agency that provides evaluation services on behalf of our Members – the Canadian provincial and territorial physiotherapy regulators (called Colleges).

About the Project

Pivotal Research completed a national study with physiotherapists across the country to validate national standards of practice and code of ethics. The project was sponsored by the Physiotherapy Alberta College + Association in collaboration with the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators. Eleven health regulatory authorities across the country participated in the study.

The goal of the project was to develop a common set of standards of practice and a code of ethics applicable to all physiotherapists in Canada.

In January of 2016, Pivotal Research launched an online consultation with physiotherapists across Canada to validate and provide feedback on draft Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics developed by the Alliance.

Pivotal Research adopted a census approach to the study where all members of participating regulatory bodies across Canada were eligible to participate. Overall, 12,206 physiotherapists across Canada received an email invitation requesting their participation in the validation project. Most regulatory authorities supplied names and email contact information of their members to Pivotal Research.
