The City of St. Albert is located in Alberta and is home to over 65,000 residents.

About the Project

Pivotal Research has conducted five municipal censuses for the City of St. Albert (biennial from 2008 to 2016). We created their online self-enumeration process, provided Optical Character Recognition (OCR) paper forms and managed the database for the municipal census. Those projects follow tight timelines to meet Census date requirements set by Alberta Municipal Affairs. Beginning 2010 Pivotal Research deployed an online census application and designed paper data collection forms for the city of St. Albert. Between 40 and 49 percent of dwellings self-enumerated using the online option. The total number of residents enumerated for this project exceeded 64,000 residents.

Results of the study support the City of St. Alberta’s municipal planning and applications for provincial and federal grants. The City benefited from secure, reliable data that meets the provincial requirements.
